Armed Assailants Beat and Hold Car Passengers Hostage in Aligarh’s Tappal Area
Armed assailants in Aligarh’s Tappal area attacked passengers returning from a religious event in Noida, beating them and holding them hostage at gunpoint. The attackers demanded a ₹2 lakh ransom and robbed ₹25,000 before fleeing. Police have launched an investigation as the injured victims receive medical care.
According to officials, the attackers targeted the vehicle without warning, dragging out two young men and beating them before turning on the other occupants. The assailants then demanded a ransom of ₹2 lakh and forcibly took ₹25,000 in cash from the passengers’ pockets during the assault. The victims, injured and shaken, were later rescued and rushed to a nearby hospital after the police were alerted.
Authorities from Tappal Police Station have launched an investigation, collecting statements from the survivors and mapping possible escape routes used by the attackers. Officers said efforts are underway to identify the suspects and determine whether the crime was planned or opportunistic.
The incident has underscored the vulnerability of commuters travelling on regional routes and highlighted the need for strengthened patrolling. As the probe continues, police say further action will follow once the culprits are traced and apprehended.
